ACT’s newest camp is here: SPOKES!

Imagine riding some of the best trails in Tasmania with a great group of fellow legends, eating delicious food, chilling by the river at night AND so much more… you are imagining SPOKES!

Join us this April as we ride the trails around Derby and explore what it means to follow Jesus.

To make it easier to get to camp, there will be pick up points at both Launceston and Hobart for campers + bikes to get you to and from camp.

(Note: Derby is an amazing MTB destination. The team running camp suggests this week is best suited to those with some riding fitness and who have had some experience on similar trails. This is not a camp for a beginner or novice rider.)

Registrations open 12:00pm 1st February 2025.

 FAQs and other Info

  • Yes, there and back (included in the cost of camp)! In the lead up to SPOKES, you will be told precisely where you’ll need to be. But we’re planning for one pick up point near the Hobart CBD, and another near Launceston. This transport will be for you and ALL your gear.

  • At a bare minimum, you must supply your own suitable bike and a certified helmet. The types of trails you might be riding are best suited to duel suspension bikes (but hard-tails could be ok) — we just highly recommend not bringing a bike from Big-W. In your precamp letter, we will also specify some other safety equipment and spare parts that will be strongly recommended.

  • No. Due to the strain this will place on the leadership team, and the logistics of camp, there won’t be time to sort out collecting hire gear for SPOKES. Feel free to contact the director if you’d like to talk about this.

  • We have some highly experienced riders on the leadership team, who are ready to help with some minor repairs. (Part of our program includes some bike maintenance sessions!). But if more serious damage is sustained, the camp director or a riding instructor will contact parents and discuss the best options so you can keep enjoying camp. This may involve going to one of the bike shops in Derby to fix your bike and supply the necessary parts at your own cost.

  • Our riding instructors all have appropriate first aid qualifications and will be riding with well equipped kits. Each trail you ride with your group will be carefully supervised to ensure your safety. If an accident does occur, we have lots of ways that we’ll be able to get you help, or call for extra assistance.

  • No. We have packed as much riding as we can into our program — including some time for optional extra sessions. But in order to keep everyone safe, we have hand picked some of the best trails, and will put you in a group with other riders at a similar skill level. In those times when we’re not riding, we’ve got heaps of other great stuff we’re looking forward to doing with you!
