FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
Are the camps safe?
A lot of time goes into the planning of camps to make them safe. We take safety seriously.
All of our leaders are fully endorsed and have undertaken training in child safety.
We maintain a high ratio of leaders: campers to help build safety in to our programs.
Every camp has a qualified first aid officer in the case of minor accidents. Additionally, each camp has access to additional support in the case of major incidents.

How are the costs of camps calculated?
Anglican Camping Tasmania is a not for profit organisation. We are committed to providing camps that are financially viable in the long term, and we do all we can to keep camps affordable for families in Tasmania. ACT does not seek to make a profit through any of its ministries. An individual’s registration payment, contributes to all aspects of their time on camp, as well as the broader running costs of Anglican Camping.
Camps are not cheap to run! We work carefully to make the camps affordable - even the leaders who volunteer significantly, financially contribute to the costs of camps.
-
Is there financial support?
When you register your child/children you can indicate your desire to seek financial support. Our Executive Officer, Elizabeth Poland - will then get in touch to discuss options- including scholarships/subsidies as well as payment plans.
It is the policy of ACT that only one discount should be offered per camper in each camping season (Summer / mid-year). This means that if a person registers for more than one camp, they can only apply for a discount for one of the camps.
-
What happens if my child can no longer attend camp?
We understand that sometimes life happens - that may prevent you from sending your child on camp.
We have a detailed cancellation policy. If you are thinking you may need to cancel - please contact our Executive Officer to talk through your options.
In all circumstances, ACT will seek to be understanding of the specific circumstances families are in, including sickness or other unforeseen circumstances.
-
My child can only attend for part of the camp - is that cheaper?
ACT camps are planned with the whole camp experience in mind. As such, partial attendance (by choice or for other reasons), will not result in reduced registration costs.
-
what happens if something goes wrong?
All camp directors have an emergency response plan - with people ready to come onto camp in case of a critical incident.
In the case of a significant incident- parents will be notified to ensure the safety of campers - as well as to alleviate any additional stress for families.
Again, we take safety seriously- but camping comes with risk. We seek to mitigate significant risks to keep everyone safe on camp.
